"The Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Sciences) degree program
is offered as a four years full-time (8 semesters) program with 147 credits in
total. This consists of compulsory university subjects, basic, advance and
elective modules as well as training attachments at local district clinics,
hospitals and industry laboratories. This program focuses on various medical
and clinical sciences, including anatomy and physiology, molecular biology,
biochemistry, molecular and cellular genetics, medical microbiology,
parasitology, immunology, toxicology, pathology, hematology, pharmacology,
bioinformatics, forensic science and radio biology.
The program is taught by qualified, dedicated and expert
lecturers in the field of Biomedical Sciences. The objectives of this program
are to provide graduates with sufficient basic knowledge in the field of health
sciences with emphasis on the importance of laboratory procedures and also to
generate graduates who are able to work in the area of medical and health
related industries.
CAREER PATH
Graduates may find employment in research laboratories,
veterinary science or hospital laboratories.
Biomedical Sciences graduates may pursue a career in
education. They can be educators in the universities and schools.
Students can also undertake postgraduates’ courses in any
related field and become researchers and lecturers.
Biomedical Science graduates can also enter the police force
in the area of forensic.
Industries may employ Biomedical Sciences graduates for
research and development of industrial laboratory instrumentation and also in
food and health care area.
Insurance companies largely employed Biomedical Science
